Wonchul joined LEK Partners in August 2024 and is engaged in providing tax consulting and compliance services to major Korean corporations. His expertise includes both domestic and international tax. Prior to joining LEK Partners, he worked at KPMG New York office for over 10 years and other regional firms for over 3 years.

Wonchul has served a broad range of global Korean clients doing business as single entities or in joint venture and has extensive experience with a wide range of complex tax matters relating to his clients’ businesses. Wonchul’s current and past clients include leaders in the multi-national manufacturing, wholesale/distributing, and financial services industries.

Wonchul has advised on many transactions in several industries. For example:
 • Performed tax services specialized in reviewing and delivering federal and state income tax returns for various companies including foreign and community banks as well as commercial companies.
 • Prepared and reviewed global corporate quarterly and full-year income tax provisions under ASC Topic No. 740 (formerly known as FAS 109) for the financial statements.
 • Performed as a representative for Internal Revenue Service tax exam and state tax authorities audit on behalf of clients and analyzed supporting documentary evidence to determine value and conformity to applicable federal/state laws, rules and regulations.
 • Researched and analyzed various tax matters and subsequently documented findings in a logical and systematic report; consulted with recommendations when deemed necessary.
